Accessibility and Availability
Neighborhood
Athmar Park is a beautifully diverse, hilltop neighborhood perfectly positioned between the hopping local restaurant and arts scene on nearby Broadway and Santa Fe Drives and the authentic, affordable ethnic restaurants and markets to the west. The jewel of the neighborhood is friendly Huston Lake Park from which you can see much of the Front Range mountains. There you will find tennis and paddle ball courts, a nice kids' playground, outdoor gym, and basketball courts. In a walk around the lake during the right time of the year, you may find a variety of migratory birds. In the spring and summer you will hear the call of red-wing blackbirds balancing on the cattails that border much of the lake. Just few minutes south you will find the Levitt Pavilion where city-sponsored free or low-cost concerts by both big names and local bands take place all summer long.

If you have a car, you will have easy access to I-25 to the west, Highway 6 to the north and 285 to the south to take you to the foothills and mountains. No car? Two light rails stations are within easy reach by bus or bike to much of Denver, but especially to the lively and historic Union Station. Cyclist? The lengthy South Platte bike trail is just a few minutes to the west. From there you can ride downtown, or south as far as Chatfield State Park along the beautiful North Platte River or west to Bear Creek State Park and Morrison.
